I grabbed some 7018 AC rod and gave it a shot on high power 110V on some clean scrap 1/4 inch.  Could barely get it to arc, never mind hold an arc.  How come the 6011 will fire right up but the 7018 doesn't want to, jsut needs more power?

Anyway, I rewired the plug for 220V and holy moly lots more power...this nearly doubles the amperage output from 110V and the 6011 was kickin!

The 7018 however would still just barely hold an arc.  Am I missing something about this rod or do I need more than 140 amps?  Doesn't seem like I should.  Do I need to do something more than a wire wheel for prep?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
