Ok try and wiggle the input shaft, both up/down, side to side and in and out. Put the suspect trans in each gear and turn the input shaft 4-5 revolutions to be sure you have made at least one full revolution in each gear. Pull the drainplug, look for shavings or metal chunks. A little bit of metal flake is alright and is normal, but a lot is a bad sign.
