It is an idle up feature so that when you are turning hard and taxing the pump it automatically idles up the engine to give you more fluid flow.  If you have a carbed engine you might be able to get away with running a hose from one to the other to seal up the port...I don't know.

So, it's not really needed? I am EFI, just never got around to putting this pump on till now, while I do the engine swap.
