most of them ive seen came from japan. a lot of jdm places imported them as a replacement for the 22R, only thing is, japan doesn't use a lot of motors over 2.0l since it raises taxes or fees or something. so all of their gas hiluxes had those in them. the jdm places screwed a bunch of people on those
also, i believe europe was still running the 18R at least into the early 80s, i've seen pics of 79-83 trucks with them in it
