most 80's didn't come with a cv style front shaft. When I first lifted my 80 with the stock shaft I had the same problem of the angle being to much for the yolk of the shaft to clear the u-joint during rotation. So I kinda got a thump thump sound. I clearanced it with a die grinder so it would operate at the steeper angle, but eventually just replaced it with a cv style shaft.
