Just a little trick that worked out for me..
I had a 84 Toyota Reg. Cab Long Bed. witch I believe would be the same as your ex cab short bed..
When i put my dual cases in I got a Drive shaft out of a 98 Tacoma Reg. Cab Short Bed (cause it already had a HD CV joint in it. When I went to do the measurements for it, It went right into place. I did not have to modify it at all. Call some wrecking yards I got mine for $45.. And if for some reason you have to cut it, you will be set up with a nice CV.
