if you have done any engine work/had valve cover off (meaning removing vacuum lines) lately, just double check your lines.  I had a similar problem a couple years ago after I put a new engine in my truck, turned out I had the brake booster line hooked to the plenum where the PCV valve hose was supposed to be.  I was finally able to get mine to idle at 750 smoothly.
