California law states that a vehicle cannot stay in the same place on the street for more than 72 hours. I will admit, I wasn't aware of this law and it was parked longer than 72 hours. But many of the cars parked on that street stay in the same place for longer periods of time than my truck. And I drive it to work at least once a week. But some snob probably called it in saying it was an eye sore or something.

Since this is what I do (sorry in advance) you'd be partially correct and just so you don't make a mistake and just move it from side to side without the mileage really changing here's what you must do every 72hrs. to avoid getting towed in Cali. Not only must you move your vehicle every 72hrs but you must also have driven it at least 5 miles or you can still get towed. Just moving it only shows that it is not an abandoned vehicle so it won't get towed for 22669a or worse 22650 vc abatement. What they got you for was 22650k which is the code for the 72hr parking. Generally someone would have reported it sitting there since we are mainly reactive and not proactive.
