The mech fuel pump has two bolts that bolt to the head not the block. It bolts onto the intake side at the front. There should be a port there, maybe with a plate on it depending on the years, I'm not 100% sure on that part. The mech pump has a lever that runs on a cam that is bolted on the front of the cam shaft. Check out a haynes manual for a visual.
