you are dreaming on gears. Front and rear with set up kits are at least $700 PLUS install (usually around $300 an axle). I have about $4000 in to my axles without chromos or 35 splines or rear discs
It is usually the little things that get you. When you buy a 60 it is usually old and crappy. I spent $250 on wheel bearings. Then you can expect to put on new brakes, studs, etc. Things tend to nickel and dime you. Sometimes it is better to just buy a built set of axles and save yourself the trouble of grinding, painting and rebuilding. good luck
