Boost is boost. It doesn't matter what you use to develop your boost, but in your case, just keep it limited to around 5-7 psi or so using boost controllers.

The CT26 (Turbo Mk2 MR2, Turbo Celica Altrac, Single Turbo Supra) is an Excellent choice because it can be found in many wrecking yards and Toyota solved the back pressure issue when they developed this slightly-larger turbo.
