When mine were first built we had 4 2x2 legs welded straight to the frame. they would bend the frame when i came down hard on a rock. My passenger side one is even bent still. I then added 1 more mount per side out of 2x4 and added a couple top braces per side. They don't bend anymore. If i did it again i would have plated the frame before welding them on.
