Ya, that doohicky is stupid...well its useful on a stock height truck but once you lift it ang go with larger sized tires it loses its value. Just take the rod off all together. Thats what I did with mine and I havnt noticed any difference. Oh and by the way, thats a nice looking truck. I'm interested to see how your flat bed turns out. The troop carrier idea is pretty cool.
