Running a auto makes it easier on the drivetrain (less shock load). Ditto on the dual case.
327, 700R4, 3.07 1st, dual case 2.28, 2.28, 4.88 =78:1
327, 700R4, 3.07 1st, dual case 2.28, 4.70, 4.88=161:1

327, 700R4, 3.07, 2.28, 2.28, 5.29=84:1
327, 700R4, 3.07, 2.28, 4.70, 5.29=174:1

The above ratios do not include the torque converter. Times the above ratios by 2 to get the converter crawl raito.

A auto with a crawl ratio of 50:1 or greater is impressive. This number is without the torque converter and does not allow for 38" tires!
