Your talking about the horse shoe cross menber right?
I wondered about the strength of it cause I'm in the process of starting to fab an anti-axle wrap bar  :_order: I thought about reiforcing it just in case; now after hearing about yours  ::) I'll be a beefing it up :flamer:

There was a truck I just saw with a flat tranny cross member on it - pushing his tranny up over 3", he cut out the tranny tunnel in the floor board for clearance. I did like his new rear cross member as it was now square tubing flat across frame rail to frame rail.  Nothing hung below side frame rails :yupyup:
