It could be the contacts in the starter itself.there are 2 l shaped copper contacts in the starter that the bendix touches when it pops out. these wear down over time, i have 180 k original starter and replaced these twice , a couple of friends have done the same. the starter will work fine then just stop working . the toyota part number is : 28226-72010 , they are @ $9.00 . alot better than a new red top or a new starter, its an easy fix.
93 toy extended cab, chevy 305,sm465 tranny with 6.39:1 first gear, np205 transfercase ,lincoln locked v6 third in front, marlin sas ,4 link out back , bonerbuilt bumpers and paint,37"SSR's, generic steelies, 16"bed bob, fuel cell, bonerbuilt roof rack, square front driveshaft,95 prelude seats, sparco harnesses, bedlined floorpan and lots of mojo.and some shiny new things.
