While Toy's are tough axles they do have limits I don't like. Turning radius is bad, changing out broken birf's or inner axles is - well - lets just say I'd rather not do it anymore on the trail. The D44 has a wider stance compared to the Toy (Wider is better) and wheel spacers and or off set wheels put more strain on the Toy knuckles.
As for as staying all Toy - whatever
$$$ on the D44 Vs. D60?!? Do the D60 and don't look back The D44 is ok up to 36" tires - I wheel with guys pushing larger tires on D44's but they do break aftermarket HD components.
