Im not sure what the gpm of a 302 is I would think it would be about the same as a 350, I used to use a short style wp but when I switched to the long style to install my york on board compressor it was running way to hot. ok for short trips but if I drove it more than about 10 miles at a stretch it would get hotter and hotter. bad deal! now that I swapped to a smaller pulley the prob is nonexistent. so maybe you should try that its cheap to try.
