Here is what I did on my 80, 84 & 85 which is almost exactly what you'd be looking for. Downey's 3" lift with their add-a-leafs. They will not recomend putting the add-a-leafs on the front but I did it anyways to support the heavier bumper and winch. I also put 1 1/2 inch shackles on which gave me about 4 1/2 inches of total lift after settling. Pretty straight forward swap without having to modify any mount points, and still gives the firm on-road ride, and is real flexy. Your steering wheel will be off center but if you also buy the adjustable draglink you can bring it back straight and it will also eliminate the bump-steer.
