I was wondering about that frame weld, is it sleeved or just but welded? The plate would probably be good either way
I lengthened a 2 ton winch truck and did not plate the frame no problems so far and that was almost 6 years ago, almost every time they use the truck they rare up the front end about a foot off the ground and it has not broken yet, and WM appears to be a mch better welder than me. he won't have any problems.
