Well the 4x4 usally will hold resale value better then a 2wd
The 4x4 is nice to have for snow,ice,towing on steep uphill gravel roads or for stump pulling always that just in case need..
You can go off road in a 2wd but the fronts hang low and bottom out,won't go where you want to go and just belong on the street unless driving ivan stewart style
Other then that I think the 2wd is a better tow rig if you don't tow into places that you need 4x..The fuel milage is better.The insurance is lower.Maint is usally about the same if you don't use the 4x4.The cost is about the same other then tires are more in a 4x4..I just feel a truck is worth less with out 4x4.I always am thankfull for having it.I tow in alot of sand and snow so its pretty much a must for me..Not to mention 4x4's are just sooooo kewl!
