Depending on how far you have to slide the tranny back, you may have to remove the shifters?
Also, I always like to support the engine to keep it from tipping when I'm wrestling around with the tranny. I've only done these by myself, so it can be done. It's not pretty, but it works. Ya get under the jacked up vehicle on a creeper or a rug or something with your head toward the rear. Roll the tranny up on yer chest, then lift the bellhousing up with yer knees and slide it on in.
I had an '85 cressida that lost everything but 4th gear. I did the tranny/clutch swap in my gravel parking lot at my apartment in February.
It took me pretty much 8 hours, but it has ran great ever since. Also did a 5m to 6mge swap on that car, but thats another story
