Well that W56B wasn't in that good of condition after all.  I took the rear housing off in my kitchen last night and found half of a C clip in the housing.  I couldn't see real well last night but I looked at it when I got home from work.  It looks like the clip went through 5th (?) gear.  All of the bearings feel good, counter gear thrust clearance looks good, synchronizer ring assembly and fork all look and feel good.  I'm not smart enought to rebuild this.  I'll keep babying the W56C till I can get a rebuilt from you.
