I find what works for me is as follows:
  • eat well - lay off the fast food, chips, and that sort of thing
  • moderation - don't go for the supersize servings and no seconds
  • stay busy - you're less inclined to go for the munchies while doing something than sitting in front of the TV

That is about it.  I'm actually ten pounds lighter than I was twenty years ago in high school.
