DON'T TRY THIS METHOD! I've heard of it and the damage it can cause.

First thing to consider is the timing cover breaking. The chain bunches up and Houdini's itself out the side.

Second is the crank snout going it's own way.

Even if it does work, and nothing breaks you WILL need to change the timing chain, it's not designed for such use. The tiing cover will most likely leak. And the one thing that you will really hate is the crank snout bending and takiing out the #1 main bearing and saddle.

Not worth taking the chance.
