Don't get too caught up in all that longer tranny bs, it mostly pertains to 4x4 trannies.
just to go along with this, the 2wd is pretty unsupported, but I did have a w55 in my 1985 2wd.... the 2wd are longer than the 4wd transmissions as they have the tail section not mated to a transfer case
