Glen,
they worked fine. just like they were supposed too.  They decreased compressed side main leaf twist, allowed for more droop and as a unintended side effect produced a kind of anti-squat. There are disadvantages too.
On a truck (or any front engine vehicle for that matter) there is a problem with steep decents on high traction surfaces.  Front end weight bias combined with front end brake bias.  And into this equation add virtually uncontrolled extention of the rear suspension and well you get a really metallic flopping noise. Aka the chance to see the bottom of you truck while looking down at it instead of up at it.  
Trail toys, of any make or model have a tendency to get built for going up stuff, sans much thought into how well they will come back down.
