in a pinch i have used the old races to pound the new ones in. no damage  but brass is your friend,  also a trick to get the bearing and seal off at once is to take the front bearing off and put on nut back on the spindle, then pull on the hub body  towards you from the spindle and everything will be off the hub body for bearings sake.
