I can talk all I want, because I give advice on good solid welding procedures. If you want to do shitty welds, so be it. But anytime you want to do a full pen weld, you need to bevel, inner sleeve or no inner sleeve.
I know for a fact, that a bevel, with no sleeve is just as strong or stronger then the base metal. You need to get that weld to go through the full thickness of the metal on a spice.
I never said that I dont bevel it along with the sleeve. Obviously you need to bevel it to get full pnetration, plus I also put a sleeve in for extra strength. If it does not get a sleeve and that tube sees stress under a rollover, it will snap at the weld instead of being able to flex and bend. An inner sleeve allows the material to flex more before breaking. If I'm in a rollover I would much rather have my cage bent than broken. Its the difference between thinking about safety and not caring
