Okay, I hate to spoil someone elses party but I'm in a similar situation. (I'll try to be more specific) I hope this answers questions for both of us.
I've got an '83 Mini with an '87 22RE. I Have Marlins ultimate Dual setup 223:1. The truck crawls great but here in Tennessee, you have to get up and go sometimes. The 22's power band is way to small. I don't need lots of horses but need to be able to wind up and gain momentum better than I can now. The rear is a Ford 9" so it's plenty strong. I like the idea of the 7MGE swap but I need a stronger Tranny anyway. So...

I own a Chevy V8 that came out of my old FJ45 that needs a rebuild. unidentified 283 or 327.
I'm a former Cruiser guy and an learning about the Mini options.
