Taco SAS or 84 Engine swap
« on: Apr 22, 2003, 01:47:20 PM »
Don't know what to do with my yotas

84 4runner custom shock hoops, nice bumpers, hysteer, etc but no gears or lockers :( working on that.

87 4runner sr5, fresh 22re, No rust (possibly selling)

94 V6 camry

I was working on a tacoma at school and I love it. and the 3.4 hauls. I saw the transfercase adapter. How come I never see a toyota axle in front of any Tacomas?

you never see any toy axles in the front of tacos cause the diff is in the driver side :shake: darn engineers i think they change stuff just for the sake of change! :slap:   it would take someone very skilled too do something like swap the front end around for a taco!
:psss:check out the current solid axle swap on the main marlin page :psss:

Most guys using tacoma with sas go with a driver side
d-44 up front and they come out pretty sweet.I still think the mid 80's mini are better for wheeling then taco..

I thought I could beat the crap out of the 84 this summer. get gears and lockers. Then next summer put the front end into a taco. Only because I looked into engine swaps. And looks like I would run around 5-6 grand to stay toyota(and there is no way I am going to go american). i started looking for a high mileage taco.i could get one for a little bit more.

I figured a MC09 woiuld cut allot of work out of the swap.

http://www.marlincrawler.com/tacoma/r150f_trans_r01.jpg

that is cause i was assumeing a taco came with the R150F.

As for adding the unibody camry ontop of the 4runner, my girl friend would kill me. But if I had the skills, I probly would anyways.

:scratch:Guess you lost me..whats going to cost 5-6 grand to stay toyota? An engine?Or all your up grades?
Don't knock the ifs on the taco..With some rear suspension work and front spacers can be a great trail rig..My taco does great on the trail. Not much of a rock rig but its awesome in mud and sand..Keep am eye out for updated pics on my almost trail ready taco..I

I have decided to stick with my 87 4runner and use my 84 as a donor. I am thinking its probly better to finally get a 4wheeler.

Don't worry Ill change my mind before I start.
