Toyota V8 to minitruck t-case
« on: Apr 16, 2003, 09:38:07 AM »
Hi, I have recently purchased a Toyota V8, out of the crown, it is an all alloy, quad cam, after the twin turbos, it should make over 400kw. I am wondering if it is possible to bolt a toyota mini truck t-case to the back of it. The rear output is 23 spline. This is the same auto found with a chain driven case behind it on the import surfs (here in AUS)

I want to fit a gear driven case to the back of it.

Is there such an adapter off the shelf? Or am I dreaming?

Well, if your Surfs are using a A340 Automatic Transmission, then we've got an adapter for ya. It will allow you to bolt a 23-spline Gear Driven RF1A Transfercase behind the A340 Automatic Transmission.

Adapter Part #V6T-4CX-TACOMA
Webpage: http://www.marlincrawler.com/specialadapters.html
Pics (setup with a 5spd Tacoma V6 R150F Transmission):

I know that here in the states, our new Tundra's (1998+) come with a 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 engine and is only available as an Automatic. Now we have not inspected one, but we've crawled underneath a Tundra and the t/case appears to have a different bolt pattern than the A340 style Chaindriven Transfercase... But if your setup will work, then that's awesome! Twin Turbo V8 Crawler - ohh :pokinit:!

Regards,
BigMike

I am sure its a A340. That I can get!

I only havce the older version, the 1UZ, I wish I had a 2UZ, or a 1GZ (V12) but cost and availability :(

anyways, any news on this:

"Here are the very first public released photos of the adapter that we have been working on for some time now. This is not a finalized product. We are working as fast as we can to release this as a finished product.

Pricing and availability to be announced. "

any news on price or availability?

i looked at the pictures and looked at mine and i dont think it will work.

SCOTT (cruzilla) i took some pictures and emailed them to you. hopefully the pictures i was looking at are for a different type of gearbox.

sadly i have the 2WD auto and maybe it needs custom adapters?

I saw them. Either they are non US or 2wd stuff. I've have not seen many 2wd's apart so I am lost there. I did forward them to BigMike for Marlin to look at.

Sorry, Scott

Ps a call to the master Marlin   might shed some light. I will mention it when I talk to him next.
