NICE PICTURES KNEEDOWNNATE!!!
I am packing my rig as we speak to head out for 4 days in B zone Ca.  I need to replace the valve cover gasket and adjust the valves on my rig. After that I am gone.  I will definitely post up some hunting pics.
Where are those pics from? and whats with the red squirrel??  I eat Grey squirrels but never a red one.  Are they tasty???

I  had far too many issues with  my gas jerry can on my last wheeling trip so I decided to come up with something new.  I had John help me with the desgin.  It is super solid and strong!!

here is where it is mounted- To the tool box...

floats off the bed by a few inches...

welded a big washer and glued a rubber stopper to hold it in place with the turn knob...

Great work and attention to detail.  Seeing your flat bed makes me wish I had a Pickup, not a 4Runner, so I could make my own flatbed.  No, wait.  I love my 4Runner.  Nice job.  Here is a turtle point for you :turtle3:

Pics aren't mine, they're another member and I believe that's in oregon somewhere.  What area of the alps are you going, west side since you're closer or?  I went by one trailhead last year on opening weekend and counted over 20 rigs, and over half had stock trailers  :yikes:  Talked to some folks as they came out and they said it was nut to butt and nobody saw anything.  Most my alps experience has been east and south sides, mostly going in from the base of scott mountain to around junction city.  I'd love to take a week or more and go in to the grizzly lake area, especially if I could pack in something to float out on the lake.  I hear the trout have nice red meat!

YES!!
the east side of the Trinities is crowded.  Around the Swift Creek area near Trinity Center is the worst.  I go in on the west entrance parallel to Hoopa.  There are fewer people and the trail in is covered with deadfall.  As a result, no horses go in and very few people.  The trail in is a PITA but it is worth it.  The only real problem is parking your rig at the trailhead.  A few years back a couple of kids thought it was cool to smash in the window and throw in a lit flare :maddest:
At least they caught the guys.
I have an old VW vanagon I drive to hike in spots.  I don't care if they burn it to the ground. My only problem would be getting a ride back home. ahhah

Oh yea.. thats a nightmare!
You probably know there was a really big burn all over there a few years back.  The place is probably crawling with big bucks this year.  The problem with that is it will be crawling with people as well.
I will keep you updated on my season

Very nice bed, excellent craftsmanship. The only problem I see for my type of wheeling is the hi-lift would be history. I built my FB to be used as a slider because of the 123" WB.
