1990 4runner Build (3RZ Swap)
« on: Sep 09, 2009, 09:07:30 PM »
Yea another build... get over it. Im not letting anyone drive this one so hopefully i wont have to get rid of it! i wasnt going to make a build thread since this is my 6th, but whatever.

ANyway its a 1990 runner
22re
auto
2wd
fully loaded and in good condition

picked it up for $500 on July 1, 09

going to be on toyota axles for now, hysteer, 1.5 spacers, 4.10s, welded, tacoma rear, 4.10s, welded, dual cases with 4.7s, sky crossmember, homebuilt sliders and bumpers, 37" MT/R's on 2" backspace wheels

Goal is to have it done with leaf rears, sas front, duals and 5spd by Sept 26th and wheel the on Oct 3... Im thinking I will have it done easily by the 19th, ive already got a lot done. I could easily have it done this weekend but im just taking it slower than i normally would

within the next year it will be on tons and 42s but i just want to wheel and build the tons over time

Yesterday and today just got the motor ready to pull along with the tranny. Today I pulled out the motor and tranny together. Also cleaned up all the oil and got the space underneath ready to SAS it. Tomorrow it will be cut up if i can find torches.

22re for now.

After i swap the tons I will be putting in a 5.3L Chevy Vortec V8. Got a line on a cheap motor and a legit stand alone harness that ill make work with the yota harness for tach and other gauges and then wire in a OBD-II port in so its still smog legal.

it will be so sick when done, the runner is so nice in person. i hope i get to drive it. you have seen me wheel  :beerchug:  :burnout:
Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

Im looking forward to watching this.. I am doing something similar with my 95 build... I just got the clutch pedal ass'y all put together and slave cyl mounted.. it was all pretty straight forward.. although I don't have my own shop so your build will be much faster!

IFS is cut out!!! Pics to come soon. It took about an hr and a half after doin some stuff... That and The torch I used was messin up at first but i got it to work a lot better after a little cussing at it...That and Doof turned up the gas a little more and it was dialed.

Tomorrow is grinding, welding in hanger, cleaning stuff up and HOPEFULLY mounting the axle.... Then I gotta move the box forward and do a bunch of gay stuff like cutting the holes for the shackle hanger

Yeah... I could probably easily have it done by Sunday night and button everything up Monday evening but I dont think I will.... I havent got an order conformation or anything from Sky-Manufacturing and I was hoping it would be here tomorrow!! I dont think it will be though. I ordered it Tuesday!!!

It will suck if its not here but if its not, its not. I can always get it done next week. I guess I can throw the motor and tranny in this weekend if it doesnt come and just finish up the suspension next week. I still have a bunch of random small things to do. It REALLLY should be done by next weekend judging by how much stuff I have got done.
