Jeep Yj build
« on: Nov 14, 2008, 05:56:18 AM »
New here. But just thought I would post my build here as it comes along.

Plans are:
Ford 8.8 rear (already in)
85 Toy front axle, longs, chromo hub gears (being cleaned and getting ready right now)
Dana 300 t-case(with 4:1 and twin sticks)
AA dana 300 adapter/clocking ring
Sprung over on 36's

Any input/advice/critism would be greatly appreciated

Will have pictures soon.

Thanks,
-Jared

What it used to look like

Where it sits now

Well I finished my brakelines up tonight. What a pain they were. I just cut the jeep hardline and flared on a toyota fitting and got some toy softlines. Working at autozone helps!

All I have left is to build a front driveshaft and draglink. We will see how that goes.

Nice, I like to see people trying new ideas, that is way cool. But I am afraid your Jeep brethren might abandon you for putting a GASP toyota part on your Jeep. Its okay though cuz we will take you in

So what gears are you going to run in your axles?

I have 4:10's. I had them before and liked them and I figure with the 4:1 in the tcase that I should really like them now.

Looks sweet!!

So what did you do for steering? Looks like you are running maybe a Marlin high steer to your Jeep steering box? Those tie rods don't interfere with each other?

I am running the trail gear arms and tierod.
Draglink has a fj80 end on the steering arm side, and heim on the steering box side with a jeep pitman arm. And ya, everything clears.

Did some test flexing today.
