Red, my original sew on date would have been March as well. I'm glad i got BTZ because now I can test for Staff next cycle (even though I'll be deployed). I hope to make it, I can use a little more responsibility.

Jimbo, what part is dragging you down? This new PT

is no joke. Gotta hit the track man. A good run time can make up for some weak push ups and sit ups.

thats what kills me about big blue, all they are concerned about is that your a marathon runner and built like one. granted i'm in an oddball field in the AF and always work with army or marines when deployed, but the issue we have on dismounted ops is always with the people that get great run times, the marathon runners. put body armor, kit, and sometimes a rucksack on and those guys are done after 1-2 clicks and their gear has to be split to other guys.

I was USAF got out in I think 92. Heck its all a blur for the most part since I wasnt to happy with the job I ended up with. All I can say is anyone can trash the AF bout being pencil pushers but Air Force has THE most well trained spec ops of all the military. The AF para rescue are trained to do what no other unit can do.
I am glad I served and am proud and grateful to all that do. I think it should be manditory for all americans to serve. Too many kids these days have a total and utter lack of respect for what this country has been through. How many lives were lost to give us the freedoms so many take for granted.

Pararescuemen (AFSC 1T2X1), also called PJs (a nickname pronounced 'pee jays'), are United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) and Air Combat Command (ACC) operatives tasked with recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. They are the only members of the DoD specifically organized, trained and equipped to conduct personnel recovery operations in hostile or denied areas as a primary mission. PJs are also used to support NASA missions and have been used to recover astronauts after water landings. Of the 22 enlisted Air Force Cross recipients, 12 have been awarded to Pararescuemen. They wear the maroon beret as a symbol of their elite status. Part of the little-known Air Force Special Tactics community and long an enlisted preserve, the Pararescue service began commissioning Combat Rescue Officers early in the 21st century.

The thing that isnt stated there is ALL of the secret service in charge of guarding the president are ex PJs. Not so sure thats such a great job to have now adays tho.

red, this is true for the most part. The AF does care about having skinny guys, but I have seen many large guys who can run real well. The statement about skinny guys having to give their gear to other people may be true, but just because someone is skinny doesn't mean they can't handle their gear. I am a skinny guy, on my PT test two weeks ago I had a 32 inch waist, I maxed out push ups and sit ups and I ran a 10:12 mile and a half (not one of my best times). I assure you that physically I could hold my own, if not surpass a lot of your career field, as well as TACP, as I have worked out with a few guys from each career field. However, your jobs are much more mentally/physically demanding then mine. Don't rule out people just because they are skinny. The AF is going a little excessive though.

its not all skinny guys that i'm talking about, might not have made it clear in my original post. i'm skinny as well and thats not what the complaint is about. its about the guys who score 98-100 on their pt test, yet cant even make it 2 kilometers with their gear before they are done. i'm 155lbs, 5' 10", 31" waist. including armor, kit, and normally a case of c-4 (45 lb case) i, along with the other guys who are not pt studs (88 or 89 is where i score) carrying similar weight make the trips just fine. my issue is with the pt test, its aimed for looks not function. for those in combat oriented fields it is not a good test.

I agree completely with it's function being for looks, and not being actually healthy. I work with a guy who maxes out push ups, sit ups and normally runs high 10's in the 1.5 mile, but will fail on the new standards because he has a 41 inch waist. I think that's bull

. I think the PT standards should be based on AFSC as well. I'm an engine mechanic, I don't think I should be held to the same standards as a PJ or CCT. I also don't think the non-ers in finance should be held to the same standards I am.

I guess I "missinterpreted" what you were saying. Sorry, bout that. Furthermore, I do agree with posts # 67 & 68. I had good buddys that could haul a tank on their back and would get counseled for their pt test scores being too low. Fair or not it is what it is .....

i passed my pt test after 6 motnhs in fat camp

217 pounds, 36" waist, 55 situps, 42 pushups, 11:54 on my run -- under 30 years old --- on the new standards as of july 31, 201

and i am still a fattie

Is Sex Work?

A U.S. Marine Colonel was about to start the morning briefing to his Staff.

While waiting for the coffee machine to finish brewing, the colonel decided to pose a question to all assembled.

He explained that his wife had been a bit frisky the night before and he failed to get his usual amount of sound sleep.
He posed the question of just how much of sex was "work" and how much of it was "pleasure?"

A Major chimed in with 75-25% in favor of work.

A Captain said it was 50-50%.

A lieutenant responded with 25-75% in favor of pleasure, depending upon his state of inebriation at the time.

There being no consensus, the colonel turned to the PFC who was in charge of making the coffee and asked for HIS opinion?

Without any hesitation, the young PFC responded, "Sir, it has to be
100% pleasure."

The colonel was surprised and as you might guess, asked why?

"Well, sir, if there was any work involved, the officers would have me doing it for them."

The room fell silent.
