I think I finally really get it
« on: Jan 02, 2007, 10:29:10 PM »
I was just studying the crawl ratio table and I think I just got it... So do I have it right by saying with a Dual Ultimate Crawler (2.28/4.7) I can have 5 forward gears and a reverse gear in Hi range (1/1), low range (2.28/1), another low range from the rear box (4.7/1), and a third and even lower range by engaging both boxes (2.28X4.7=10.71/1) Oooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

t case ratios  with stock gears       1:1
                                                2.28:1
                                 (2.28x2.28)5.2:1
                         (2.28x2.28x2.28)11.8

= 4 t-case ratios, =20 forward gears
tcase ratios with 1 4.7                1:1
                                              2.28:1
                                              4.7:1
                              (2.28x2.28)5.2:1
                              (2.28x4.7)10.7:1
                       (2.28x2.28x4.7)24.4:1
= 6 t case ratios, =30 forward gears
Seems like over kill when put that way.
