85 4runner build
« on: Nov 29, 2005, 12:43:43 PM »
Ok well i'm new here and fairly new to wheelin and wrenching.  I got started about 2 years ago with an 88 4runner (BOO IFS) quickly got a set of 33's on it, wheeled it a bunch, bought an aussie locker then next day killed the truck(rolled on logging road).  So i ended up buying a rusty 85 4runner.  So what i've done so far:

wider 88 rear axle with aussie locker
back halfed the frame
welded in new rear fender inners
hippo lined
re done rear brakes/fixed e-brake/longer lines
2 1/2" susp lift 1" body lift
1.5" wheel space adapters from bigcountrycustoms.com
fabbed front reciever hitch for warn 8274
35x10.5 boggers

My short term goals:

new front rotors pads
longer ft brake lines
rear bumper with reciever
rock sliders
rear tire carrier from 90? toy
(have above just gotta do)
clutch (maybe centerforce)
axle seals (front)
invert rear shocks
rear u-bolt flip
dual batts
build tool box to be bolted onto the bed
weld ft. diff

long term goals:

3rz swap
exo
dual cases
dropped ft. hangar
square ft. shaft

long long term goals:

hysteer
smurfed birfs (maybe birf eliminator kit)
on boad air/welder
prolly lots more

So i'd like to invite you all to my local scene @ www.island4x4.com
we've got lots of good people and tonnes of great wheelin over here on Vancouver Island... come visit, I guarantee breakage.
BTW i'm doing this all on a monkey's salary of Bananna's (lol canadian bananna's to boot) so most of my plans are just wishful thinking.

thanks for the kind words gentlemen.

stock gears for now.... it's not too bad for the street, but on the trail it sucks.  my insurance runs out mid jan so i'm gonna let it expire and try to sell my boggers to help fund some more important things.  ie dual case adapter, histeer.  i'll just worry about rubber later.
