I want your opinion
« on: Jun 04, 2003, 03:47:06 AM »
I just priced a set of Alcan springs for my truck:

Front:
4" Lift. 1.5" Longer than Stk. Center Pin moved 1.5" forward.  $350/set.

Rear:
4" Lift. 12" longer than stock (59")  $450/set.

Thoughts?  :thud:  :.order: :.order: :.order:

This may be a simple question for some, but considering this is my first swap I want to get it as close to right the first time through.
I plan to run 35's. Anyone think I'll have any clearence problems in front that can't be solved with mild sawzall action, or should I increase the spring lift??  :~~:
I was thinking I could fab longer shackles to adjust for lift/clearence.

Thanks...Saw that thread. :thumb: I'm really interested in others thoughts on my particular SAS plan, especially if someone has gone this route before, what they would do differently, tips, etc.  :.order: :thumb:

No body lift. I'd rather not run one if I can help it. They just don't appeal to me for some reason :reg:
Although if I had to, I'm not against running a 1" body lift.

what year is your rig?something to think about is 84 and newer rig don't have the wheelwell space the 83 and older ones had..so a 2 in body lift is cool I think..With a two inch body lift if you are running a 4 runner, that will let you raise the fuel tank 2 inches.or in a truck too if you not already running a flatbed..I don't care what chicks say,,,INCHES COUNT!I think 3 inch body lifts are too much..They start to look funny..Two inch is my max..The other thing is to cut the cab corners and section them flat..I have tech on this somwhere..Its not that bad of a project..

1988. I'm not against hacking the fenders a bit. How much do you estimate I can remove from the front cab side fenders without it looking hokie, and before I should cut and section them flat??

I cut my fenders a good 3 inches all the way arount in the front till I got to the back half of the fender,,thin I just took it down enough so it don't look hacked..The rear I only cut 1 inch..I did not want to cut and weld in a section to the inner fender well.not yet at least..But mine is a runner,,a truck you can go alot more I think..I only had an inch till the inner fender well..
