FJ80 tie rod end boot replacement
« on: May 23, 2018, 12:45:01 PM »
Anybody got a good/cheap source for these?  I see TG has them for about $10 after shipping or I can pick them up from 4wheelparts for $8 and tax (both are the TG boots).  I'm not thrilled about giving either of these companies my money but will if there's no easier/better source.

Anyone used these on Marlin ends, any issues?...I've got hi-steer with maybe only 1.5" of lift (the tie rod barely kisses the oil pan on a big bump).  The drag link is crammed in there making for the tie rod end on the drag link to be twisted all the time and probably leading to early boot failure....only about 20k mostly street, miles on the high steer.....would have expected it to last longer, but oh well.  I'm blaming the setup for the early failure.

Mudmaster is right, I'm trying to avoid this purchase.  ....that said and when the time comes, do these EMF one have a larger range of motion (would be good for my setup if so)?  I also like that grease fitting being present as well.....I know, rocks can knock them....but still, it's pretty well protected on the side the way they have it.  At least it's not sticking out the top, right?

....oh yeah, guess I'll hang my head and go by 4wheelparts on the what home and be a sucker.  Thanks for looking around and the alternate joint sourcing guys.

Contact Brian @ Front Range Off Road.

I bought spares with my Diamond... good thing too as I've already replaced a pair. Will look into OVRAROK's link in search for other options.

Good luck.

I just run moogs from the parts house. Lifetime warranty and greasable. When a boot breaks, warranty that junk.
