2006 V8 4Runner Full Time 4WD to Part Time
« on: Nov 15, 2017, 02:05:22 PM »
What would I need (in regards to transfer case) to convert my 4runner to part time or true 4WD? The V8 4runners are full time 4WD with the option of 4lo but no 2hi. I'm planning on modifying the front suspension pretty heavily and need it to be part time 4WD. Issue with unlockable front hubs is not really a problem as I plan on using the hubs off a Bronco. Trans that the 4runner has is the A750F. Transfer case it has I am not 100% positive.

Would be nice to run dual cases but was planning on doing that down the road, main thing that I need now is to have 2hi. Could I simply run a transfer case from a Tundra that has the same trans? Do I need Marlins or Inchworms lefty case? Anyone know what makes the original case not have the option of 2hi?

I've seen the build by Rock Solid Toys of the 06 4runner with the solid axle swap but they did a dual case swap and can't seem to find the build thread.

Thanks.

I did a similar swap in my 05 Tacoma I got rid of the stock tcase and replaced it with an FJC tcase.
No more electrically shifted tcase that works when it wants to. Rock solid helped when I did my swap.
