Head light upgrade on 84 4runner question
« on: Feb 18, 2017, 12:31:58 PM »
So I finally got fed up with the yellow headlights on my 84 4runner so I decided I wanted to convert the headlights to an LED conversion. Well easier said than done. The H4 conversion that I got is not a plug and play that they said it was. I want to be able to have the low beam and high beam option but the way it the connectors are it doesn't give me an option for the high beam and it looks like the high beam is turned on all the time.

Has anyone done this to there 4runner if so can you guys shed some insight as to what I need to do to get it working properly? Any advise would be greatly apprishiated.

The black one is the new one.  I guess I worded this wrong, the connectors are plug and play but when I turn the lights on all I get is the high beam. The low beam doesn't work and I don't want to be that whole in the street blasting everyone with my high beams.

Can you get the low beams to work when connected directly to the battery?

I've seen lots of post about the headlight harness upgrade. But unfortunately no one says where they have gotten there's at. I have also seen that there are sites that say I need to use the negative switch harness to get this to work correctly, but all the harnesses I have found say nothing about the negative switch harnesses. I've tested the stock plug and I do see when I turn on the head light the negative actually activates the low beam and also the high beam in the connectors. So the negative switch harness makes sense. I almost want to try to make my own, but I know not having the connectors it will not look as nice as if I bought the harness Pre-made.

The harnesses that I have been looking at all have dual relays.
