Tire Carrier
« on: Mar 13, 2016, 06:32:37 PM »
So my buddy has a tubing bender and we had a vision of a tire carrier I wanted to build so we went for it. Here it is.

Great departure angle

I am going to mount my hi-lift and maybe a couple of roto-pax on there as well.
90'4runner......lots of goodies.

Holy hell that's one of the best overall designs I've seen.   It does sit up a little high blocking the back window but looks like it's great with your deparch angle  . Really dig it

, ya it blocks the back window pretty good. I usually don't run any doors when I wheel. I just ordered a pair of 4x innovations tube doors. Didn't really feel like making those lol. I just didn't want it to be a grabber on big drop offs, I have seen people destroy :pokinit: that hangs to low.

Also looks like you were able to get the perfect tilt on it to follow the slope of the rear window  very impressive

Yeah it was kind of tricky. Now I need to tie in the bumper to the sliders. May be doing a rear exo.....just debating. I bought enough tubing to do it, so may be in the works this week when I get some days off   :driving:

I know I'm bringing up an old thread but what did you use for the pivot point?

I had a hinge kit from comp 4x4, but I had to make custom brackets and just used the center section. The kit was in my cabinet for years and finally decided what I wanted to do. It had roller taper bearings and is greasable. I cut the brackets out of 3/8" plate. The latch is also comp 4x4.
