Shackle length with OME Springs?
« on: Jan 10, 2016, 06:29:57 PM »
I recently purchased a 1 gen 4runner,
The PO lifted the truck with OME Dakar springs (Stock Length Springs) however, someone told me the shackles he used are too long.
Should I be using stock length shackles with these springs? This is how the truck sits with the current long shackles.

Thanks

Greg

Looks like you need to cut off rear perches, and move forward a bit, how's the wheel sit in the wheel well opening

It seems to look just fine, not too far forward or back.

The OME springs raise a truck ~2" with stock length shackles.     Another inch with longer shackles. (which are acceptable)

The 4 runner is heavier, so with longer shackles; you're probably at about 2" lift too.

Does it long right height wise?

You may want to weld on a tab so the shackles don't fold forward............

That is the exact same setup that I have. I like how it rides. And I have never had my shackles invert.

Thanks for all the advice, I would like it to sit a little lower. Possibly get narrower tires.
As I get older I find myself on less rocks and more trails and exploration.
Living here in Seattle area give way to lots of lakes and forests to visit.
Looking for a 6ft. flip pac, something like this:

I also just noticed I posted this in the wrong area, maybe the MOD can move it.
I will be more careful in the future.

Well! I didn't know you were in seattle. Why don't you stop by my place sometime and check out my old man emu set-up in person. I have the same truck as you so it will be a nice comparison. I'm in west Seattle.

A shorter shackle will help with your shackle angle. It will be more laid back.
