'83 Rebel Toyota
« on: Mar 31, 2005, 07:42:07 AM »
I bought this truck last year from the original owner. It is titled as an '83 rebel. The rebel stripe package was an add-on put on by south-eastern toyota dist. I'm just curious if anyone else has one or has ever seen another one. Thanks for any info.

Is that how it looked from the factory? IE is it bone stock?

Ive never seen one like that before , my truck also came from the dealer with some godawful stripes painted on. I would keep the paint job just to be unique, its hard to be original with so many Toyota's around

here's my favorite stripe package, only available in this form in '81:

there's currently one of them driving around my town in kind of rusted out shape, they're really rare.  also there's a variant where the blue is replaced by red, also one of them in my down drivin by some girl that works down the street from me.

I've never seen an '81 like the one in Kyle's post, but I like it. I guess the different toyota distributors all had different add-on packages.
Mine also came with a brush guard , a rear tube bumper ,and a roll bar with 2 warn driving lights.

 there is one in vacaville.  Whereabouts does your mom live oddball?  I used to live there and my folks still do.  they live in Browns valley ( moved in before it got expensive)

As for the rebel truck, that is pretty slick  I like it  never seen one though

there's an 84 longbed 4wd on 38's that has the 2nd paintjob ( the white, yellow, red, & blue ), it's an interesting color scheme.

as far as i know, it was only a factory paint job in '81.  might've been a dealer add-on on later trucks or maybe somebody got theirs painted like that.  i'd love to get a scheme like that, but i know i'd never get my body straight enough for it to be worth it...got a good sized dent just behind the driver's door :rivers:

Right now this truck is completly dissassembled down to the frame. I'm completly restoring it for a daily driver. I'm painting it back the original red , but I can't decide if I should have the stripes made or not. What do ya'll think ? Keep it like it was or just solid red ?

I would have just left it alone. The new paint is just going to get messed up from wheeling anyways. If your going to paint it just do the paint and forget the stripes. But it is your truck so you can do whatever with it

This truck is not getting wheeled at all. In fact I might just take the front driveshaft out just so I'm not tempted :ha_ha:
I have my '84 for wheeling , I'm building this one for a daily driver. 1st gens are by far my favorite and they're getting hard find. Kinda makes me want to  :rivers:  when I see one get cut up.

Thanks, but I better keep it. If I did sell it you'd have to haul it home in boxes, it's completely torn apart right now.
