Pardon my ignorance of the 1kz, but looking at the injection pump it appears to be a mechanical pump. Is it as simple a fuel shut off solenoid and it runs? I know a 1kz-t is manual, where a 1kz-te is electronic which is the one you have?
Here is the link to a write up on Ih8mud on the conversion of a 1KZ-te to a mechanical pump, using a Mitsubishi 4M-40 mechanical injection pump made by Zexel. http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1kz-t-no-longer-te-mitsu-4m40-pump-swap.536516/
except the zexel pump has the wrong fuel plan for the kz, the injectors have different brake pressures etc etc etc. hence the having to wind the timing round. The real answer would be to use a kz-t pump but there rare as hens teeth and then the kzte injectors wont match the plan for the kzt injectors...and so on and so forth.....
Not trying to hijack the thread, but sounds like making a 24v cummins a ppump engine. I was just wondering about the differences in the two engines. I'm thinking about puting one in a 1st gen if I can get one for a decent price.
Im not wasting a cummins in a toyota lol I was referring to making a kz-te a kz-t looks to be about the same process as a 12v pump swap on a 24v lol
here is the kz-t mechanical pump, almost fell back in my chair http://oemparter.com/oem-parts/2210067060.html
ive had my eye on the 1kd-ftv, looks like a sweet motor
It would be if it was reliable. Toyota has had a lot of trouble with. Major component failures.
so was steve able to source one out in his neck of the woods?
