I'm also going to be heading down I5 on the 16th, from Portland, OR. Are you guys towing? And any of you made the trip before?
This will be my 4th trip and I drive my truck all the way. I'll have one other rig coming along down with me who will also drive.

I usually drive down to Placerville, CA. Spend the night there and head out for the Rubicon next morning entering loon lake.

I have gone through Auburn before. It seemed longer because you have to drive slow through curvy, hilly back country roads. Do you drive south on hwy 49 from Auburn to Placerville and then east on hwy 50?

I found it easier to drive south on I5 to Sacramento and then turn east on to hwy 50, driving 65-70mph until I hit Placerville.

49 to 193 to wentworth springs road. No reason to go to placerville. It will cut out a lot of driving. I have gone the placerville route and it adds at least an hour and a half

No we will all be driving the rigs we will be wheeling in. No trailer queens for us. Hey man I'm taking my club down to Tillamook for the long weekend if you are out of Portland and want to meet 2 of us and get some wheeling in this weekend. We will be there from Thursday to Sunday. As for the route down I can't speak as to what is fastest. I'm the FNG when it comes to going to the roundup so I'll be listening to the advice that the guys who have been there before tell me. We would love to have you guys join the convoy though!

Browns camp is my go-to wheeling spot! I work Thursday and will be in Bend Fri-Monday so i wont be about to make this trip out. But let me know if your ever coming down this way again,.
I'd recommend trying out firebreak5, crushers, and waterfall while you're there!

We are going to skip crushers. We all have to drive home and the trail looks like just asking for breakage. Not sure about waterfall. Will make a judgement call when I can get eyes on it in person.

Gotcha, okay. Are you planning on staying at Auburn for the night, or go straight to loon lake?

We are staying somewhere for the night. I don't believe Auburn is the name I heard. Somewhere that is like 2 hours out from Loon. Plan is to stop for sleep then hit it first light. We will be meeting up with a few guys in Cool.

We can crash at my moms house in Chico. Or wherever. My mom said it was cool to leave tops and doors at her place

Well the convoy plans have changed. The convoy is now leaving Monday the 14th and returning Sunday the 20th. 2 days in Fordyce has been added to the itinerary. That being said you are welcome to seek us out at the springs and camp with us. The more from WA the merrier. I will have at the very least a sign with my club's logo on it staked at the front of the camp. Looking into getting a flag that I can drape over my tent but don't know if that is going to be in the cards as I'm not even sure if I'm going to make it on the trip now.

Got everything worked out. I'm going. Plan as it stands right now:

Truck 1: Myself & RockCrawlingJK
Truck 2: zippo and helipilot
Truck 3: LittleSteve and his Mrs.

Departure date: 09/14/15
Return date: 09/20/15
Departure time: 5:00 AM
Departure location: Seattle

We will be making the long drive all in one shot on the 14th until we reach Drew's mom's place in Chico where she has graciously offered to put us up for the night. We will then start our 6 days on the trails on the morning of the 15th. We will roll out of Chico and head into Fordyce for 2 days of wheeling. Mitch (84_yota_4wd) will meet us at our camp on the evening of the 15th and run the last day with us before we all head into the rubicon for the roundup early the morning of the 17th. We will head out first thing in the morning on the 20th for the long drive back home to the WA.  :driving:
