If I had a jeep (which I would never) I'd run it skinny jeep, no flares. but how short are you cutting them?

Depends how far the tires stick out when I put them on. If I was in Nevada I would prolly run the low profile ones but the law is more strict up here from what I have been told

oh yeah...you guys actually need your flares in those Blue areas. Pardon me while I strap a headlamp to a quad and ride it on the street legally :)

yeah really. the chances of being harassed by police for flares is low everywhere else I hear....and jeeps are like saints when it comes to police encounters lol

Yeah we will see. I am going from a 6.25 bs wheel to 4.5 and a much wider tire so they are gonna stick out a bit.

I got a warning for no rear mud flaps on my 4Runner while passing through Gorst.  I had been given verbal hints in non-traffic stop encounters that often seemed to go with an admiration of my rig, but the lady WSP made a distinct effort to come into traffic solely for not having mud flaps. No issues with not having flares to cover the full width so far.

Well they are big tires for the small 2.5 inch lift that I have. Only one way to see if they fit.

So what are your real world driving experience with that tire size and the 4:88s?

I dumped my 09 JKU it was miserable with the 3.8 6 speed 33's and stock 321s. I looked at going to 4:88s but by the time I got into all the internals and lockers with a front Dana 30 i just couldn't see sinking that kind of time money and effort into it.

I traded the Jeep and Got a 6 Speed Subaru  Forester it's way better at being a liveable daily driver driver, not really a wheeler but figured I'd stick with Toyota for that.

It drives fine drives just like it did stock. It is no speed racer but I came from driving a 91 ex cab on 38.5s so it is a rocket ship compared to that.

Thats Cool  :beerchug: Hope you ave a bunch of fun with it.

Yeah that Dana 30 was such a detractor to me on those.  I'd love to have another and may end up with a 2 door down the road.  I Think that the JKU's are just too heavy for the Dana 30 up front and that what you did in the front makes complete sense  !  On my 2009 with the Dana 30  I had to do ball joints, tie rod ends, track bar at 50,000 miles with stock tires on it. The stock non serviceable ball joint have plastic thrust washers, junk  :hammerhead:

Yeah I know. The pro rock has stock ones in there now but will get synergy ones when they wear out. Rod ends will be replaced with a kit from ruff stuff when I need it and the track bar has heims and bushings. I still need bumper and fenders but once that is done I want to ditch the unit bearings and reduce wear and tear on the whole front end

Select-able hubs is the way to go with traditional bearings.  I think that anyone building a serious JK should just set 3-4k aside for a aftermarket front axle with all the goodies. It kills me to say that because the Toyota's do not necessarily need it Live axle or IFS. Heck even my wife's Samurai has held up better with stock parts then my JK did. The components are just terrible on the JK dana 30.

We'll see how it goes for me I  recently picked up a 2005 Liberty that I DD it's getting a OME kit with what i'm hoping to be 235/85/16s.  Sadly I've enjoyed it's functionality more then my JKU.   I want to love the JKU but it keeps coming up short.
