Went wheeling and had a blast...nothing like wet dirt mud and rocks...pushed passenger door in and almost flopped a few times...grip was less than stellar...

DESTINATION HAMMERS:
So we hit the hammers Friday night ran chocolate thunder and resolution....tried back door a couple times didn't want t to break before the weekend.

Then We hit claw hammer and all credit lines as well as I did the wall on left then off to SOS and took a newbie on tachammer. Then a few extra credit unamed lines. Got it fast in whoops as well as airborne a few times.....truck on 40s performed flawless....

We also ran a couple other hammer trails.....I wanted SOS and the wall on claw hammer as well as lineup and give backdoor a shot this time out...
Damage:
Destroyed rear passenger door (removed panel and had to bend back to bet glass out of way to bend rest out so doors and locks as well as glass worked)
Dented n rock assault housing up front
Dented rear housing in and hit ring gear no gear damage
Added another dent to passenger door driver side
Smashed my winch fairlead and broke a chunk off
Broke rear tail light
Smashed the hell out of gas tank skid
And some more stuff.....

Truck drove home 80 mph no issues....

Other damage I. Group and they didn't follow me on the nastier stuff...
Mike broke a Dana 60 ring gear
Other mike slashed a sidewall
Buddy sliced maxxis trepadors

We were not easy on stuff and I didn't take it easy on the rock assault front axle and Toyota rear with 40s....I had plenty of wheel spin and hopping....yes anything can brake But we are headed back to run johnson valley again soon and I will go harder next time....I don't drive like Ricky bobby lol...I get after it but not stupid never have been....

night wheeling is the best!

that taco fully gets it! the fact you can go smash it and then still drive it home 80mph is awesome. that right there is why ill never trailer my rig!

Thanks man....

Love night wheeling....
Always hit chocolate thunder right away and night run, then go goof off on the crevasses.... usually hit bed around 2am then hit the big boy runs in the morning...

Love johnson valley.....favorite place to wheel.....big bear for camping and family nothing really hard but cool family factor..

Broke a leaf spring today so now deciding if I should just link it....will decide tomorrow its late and I'm tired...

Also grabbed Toyota factory full float 1 ton axles from a Buddy.. they came off a dually Setup and have some uniqueness to them.
The housing is this thicker as is the tube section, they were early housings BT house a 8" ring gear set up. They have plates in center section for strength as well as the built on has ARB locker 4:88 gears (which need to be 5:29), , fj80 hubs and Chevy calipers and rotors...
Its still a 8" but the housing is ally thicker and the axle is 63" wide

Well boring stuff.....truck runs hot on big hills acts like a flow issue so went ahead and did Timing belt, pulleys, tensioner , water pump, thermostat and flushed whole system...added 1 quart Toyota red coolant, 1 container water wetter and 2 gallons distilled water...
Threw on new spring packs in rear and bushings, rerouted the transmission lines to cooler and out of radiator,
No real cool stuff just the important stuff....

THAT REAR AXLE= SOOO MUCH WANT.

i decided to go with a 3rd gen 4runner non ABS non elocker rear housing and a toyota 8" diff, its 60" wms and i added 1.5" spacers to match my front dana 44 at 63.5" wms, but that rear axle there seems soo much better.

I've got one for sale and there's a fj80 axle that's bent for sale on san diego craigslist so the hub bearings will be there for it.....
Hit me up of you want to talk....they use Chevy calipers, and rotors

Just differentials has the shafts for them Chromoly custom cut...they are 32.5" each so only have to bring 1 spare...

So for all those pit bike guys or wheelers with kids and small bikes....
Last 2 times out to hammers couldn't bring my kids crf 50 for him and felt bad....so made him a removable carrier...not done but myself 240 and buddy 250 bounced on it and it didn't budge...
Cross between Chromoly and aluminum track super light....hitch pins on both sides on top of frame, I'll triangulate a bar down to the top of the tube.

This still needs end caps welded on and eyelets for straps to hook to...

This carrier will have a storage spot underneath it as well....and I will make another rack that uses both hitches like this but has a cargo area....so like the swiss army of carriers....

You can see the notch pin hole and where it slides in by brake light on top of frame rail.

BTW those welds arent mine....the front leaf ha ger and brace was done already i build everything else...so the welds letting loose from crack migration wasnt mine....i burned them in heavy now and cleared his welds with a wire wheel and rewelded...

Went to shop to pull some hydro lines back before wheeling yesterday....ended up finding both frame ends cracked up front inner and outer...so welded some 1/4" plates side and bottom along with triangle gusset for a quick fix to go wheel.

Starting to think linking is in near future....I'll tie the shock hoops into bumper and tie out all in for strength sometime soon.

the issue I have with the link is toyota work so well even with leafs...if it isn't broken don't fix it...so I have a hard time chopping it up right now......

Then dirt bike rack worked flawless my kid loves bringing his bike now....and I don't feel guilty leaving it behind...we made a mtb rack as well...so now we can take his bike and mine and go ride big bear.....the modular thing turned out good...as long as I use chromoly and aluminum it stays super light....but strong.
