2014 Dusy/Ershim Trail Opening
Marlin and BigMike joined the High Sierra Ranger District and the 4WD Club of Fresno in preparing & opening up one of our favorite trails, the Dusy/Ershim trail. Marlin is the co-chair of the trail and formed two groups of 4 rigs each, both entering from opposite ends of the trail. The top side group, led by Marlin, had many more trees than the lower side group, led by BigMike. Both groups cleared around two dozen trees and rebuilt a corduroy wood crossing at Summit Meadows. We encountered a few mild thunderstorms which kept the dust down, and all-in-all we had a very good weekend! To everyone enjoying the trail this year, please leave it cleaner than the way you found it and Happy Crawling from Marlin Crawler!

The lower group found their first tree!

Closing off a user-created bypass. Bypasses are illegal and are amongst the leading causes of having trails put under review for possible closure. Do your honest part and stay on the trail at all times!

The two groups finally ran into and met each other at Summit Meadow! It was very exciting as we'd been working hard and separated for 2 days without any contact. What a relief to find everyone doing well from each end!
